Bureau Field Manual — Classified Edition — For Subject Gucake Only
AUTHORISED

Congratulations, Nato. This website — natogucake.lol — is yours. It was built as a birthday gift, and now the Bureau is formally handing over the keys. You may do with it whatever you wish. Change the content, update the dossier, make it something entirely different. It is your domain. Literally. You own the domain.

This document contains everything you need to take full control. It has been written assuming you know nothing about websites. No offence. The Bureau has seen your wardrobe.

1 What You Actually Own
THE DOMAIN — natogucake.lol This is your web address. It was registered at porkbun.com. Think of it like owning a street address. As long as you renew it each year (~$26 USD), it's yours forever. The renewal date is March 8, 2028 — Porkbun will email you before it expires.
Login at porkbun.com with the account details from your gift-giver.
THE HOSTING — Netlify This is where the actual website files live. Think of it like the building on your street address. It is currently free at netlify.com.
Login at netlify.com with the account details from your gift-giver.
KEY POINT
The domain (Porkbun) and the hosting (Netlify) are two separate things that are connected together. You need both. Both are currently set up and working.
2 How to Edit the Website

The website is a single file called index.html. To edit it, you need to: download it, change it, and re-upload it. Here's exactly how.

STEP 1 — Download the current file Go to netlify.com → log in → click your site → click Deploys → find the most recent deploy and download the files. You'll get the index.html file.
STEP 2 — Open it in a text editor On Windows: right-click the file → "Open with" → Notepad.
On Mac: right-click the file → "Open with" → TextEdit. Then go to Format → Make Plain Text.
Do NOT open it in Word or Google Docs — it will break the file.
STEP 3 — Find the text you want to change Press Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (Mac) to search. Type a few words from the section you want to edit. Change the text directly — just type over it like a normal document.
Only edit the visible words between the tags. Don't delete the angle bracket bits like <div> or </p> — those are the structure.
STEP 4 — Save the file Press Ctrl+S (Windows) or Cmd+S (Mac). Make sure it saves as index.html — not as index.html.txt.
On Mac TextEdit, go to File → Save and make sure the format says HTML.
STEP 5 — Upload it back to Netlify Go to netlify.com → your site → Deploys → drag and drop your updated index.html (and gift.html and command.html if you have them) onto the deploy zone. The site updates within seconds.
⚠ IMPORTANT WARNING
Always drag ALL your files at once — index.html, gift.html, and command.html together. If you only drag one file, Netlify will replace the whole site with just that one file and the other pages will disappear.
3 How to Add Your Own Photos
STEP 1 — Put your photo in the same folder as your HTML files Create a folder on your computer. Put index.html, gift.html, command.html, and your photo (e.g. nato.jpg) all in the same folder.
STEP 2 — Add the image to the HTML Open index.html in your text editor. Find the photo box section — search for PHOTO REFUSED. Replace the SVG leaf block with this line:

<img src="nato.jpg" style="width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;" />
Replace "nato.jpg" with whatever your photo file is actually called.
STEP 3 — Upload the whole folder to Netlify Drag the entire folder (containing all HTML files AND your photo) onto the Netlify deploy zone. The photo will appear on the site automatically.
4 How to Change the Password
Open index.html in your text editor and search for:

northatlantictreatyorganization

Replace it with whatever new password you want. All lowercase, no spaces. Save and re-upload.
Tell anyone you want to access the site what the new password is.
5 Keeping It Alive Year to Year
NETLIFY HOSTING — Free forever Netlify's free plan has no time limit. You don't need to pay anything to keep the site hosted. Just don't delete your Netlify account.
PORKBUN DOMAIN — ~$26 USD per year You need to renew natogucake.lol every year at porkbun.com. The renewal date is March 8, 2028. Porkbun will email you a reminder. Auto-renew is already turned on, so as long as your payment method is valid, it renews automatically.

That is everything, Gucake. The Bureau formally transfers full operational control of natogucake.lol to you, effective immediately. You may do with it whatever you wish. Make it weird. Make it yours. Or leave it exactly as it is as a permanent monument to your unsolved confidence and unresolved wardrobe.

We close this file for the last time. It has been an honour to document you. Mostly.
